Dashboard Confessional -- We're not faint of heart

loveanthem
This fall, critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Chris Carrabba will return to his roots with the release of The Shade of Poison Trees, Dashboard Confessional’s fifth album for longtime label Vagrant Records. The album marks a notable return to the signature acoustic sound that Carrabba first developed on early Dashboard Confessional albums like 2000’s The Swiss Army Romance and 2001’s The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most.

Recorded over 10 days in Florida with renowned producer Don Gilmore (Pearl Jam, Linkin Park), The Shade of Poison Trees is filled with the kind of earnest acoustic laments and smart, poetic lyrics that long ago turned Carrabba into a feverishly adored artist. While he continues to evolve as a songwriter throughout, the album is a significant return to the Dashboard of old, as well as a tip of the hat to fans that have spent the past nine years by his side.

When asked why he revisited his earlier stylings he responded, “I never really left.”

Over the past year, Dusk and Summer has received universal acclaim from such publications as Rolling Stone, Blender, Spin and the LA Times. And now, Dashboard has returned with The Shade of Poison Trees, an album that is sure to reconnect with the band’s longtime fans and further proving that Carrabba has become one of the most influential songwriters of his generation. Without question, The Shade of Poison Trees is Dashboard’s most personal album yet, and, to that end, Carrabba is set this fall to embark on a North American solo tour – his first in over five years.

1.Name/Location/Age: Stephanie/San Francisco/18
2.When did you first get into Dashboard Confessional? about 6 years ago
3.Tell us a story about how you found the first song you heard from Dashboard Confessional: My younger brother was completely obsessed with Dashboard. He played their songs constantly and was on a mission to learn each one of their songs on the guitar. I would always hear him in the next room singing their songs.. so eventually I became curious to what was so great about them. I listened to "A Plain Morning" and I fell in love. After that I was just as obsessed as my brother.. if not more :]
4.When refering to Dashboard Confessional, please come up with a sweet nickname pertaining to the band: ..I really can't think of anything. I usually just call them "Dash." Yeah I'm lame..
5.Favorite & Least Favorite Songs: Favorites: "Ghost of a Good Thing," "Age Six Racer," and "Remember To Breathe" ..I don't have any least favorite song(s).. I love them all!
6.When talking about Dashboard Confessional do you use 'he' or 'they'? It depends.. but it's usually "them"
7.Like tattoos? only on Chris!
8.Please share your best concert experience: I just saw them last week at Berkeley. It was my first time seeing them and they were AWESOME!! Chris is so amazing (not to mention the most gorgeous man alive!) I sat in the 8th row so I had a pretty good view.. I can't even explain how I was feeling.. just being there was incredible. Chris really knows how to connect with the audience.
9.Please share some other bands that are amazing, but not quite as amazing: The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Incubus, the Beatles
10.Promise to bring some laughs and some elite-ish-ness to the fan club? sure!
11.And finally, what is one question about the band, the man, or your future in the community do you have? I recently read in another community that he's MARRIED? can someone justify this nonsense?

1.Name/Location/Age: Gina/Michigan/16
2.When did you first get into Dashboard Confessional? about 3 years ago.
3.Tell us a story about how you found the first song you heard from Dashboard Confessional: I think the first song I ever heard was 'Drowning',which was never a huge song, to my understanding. But I liked it and bought some CDs and they've been my favorite every since
4.When refering to Dashboard Confessional, please come up with a sweet nickname pertaining to the band: um I'm lame, I just say Dashboard. or DC but if I felt like being sweet I guessss I could say DASH BO' really loud and obnoxiously.
5.Favorite & Least Favorite Songs: I really can't pick a favorite...Remember to Breathe, So Long So Long, Carry this Picture, Standard Lines, The good fight...and the only song I really don't love is Morning Calls
6.When talking about Dashboard Confessional do you use 'he' or 'they'? I always say 'he' because I really don't even care about the band, I know that's ignorant and I feel bad for whoever is in the band that isn't Chris.
7.Like tattoos? I like Chris'. and I want to get "love doesn't envy" somewhere on me.
8.Please share your best concert experience: I saw them at Michigan State a while ago, and I saw them in May of 04 for the Honda Civic Tour, which was great.
9.Please share some other bands that are amazing, but not quite as amazing: I don't really like too many other bands, honestly. I just know songs. but, Gavin DeGraw, Coldplay,Pretty Girls Make Graves, The Blood Brothers, Taking Back Sunday, and rap when you're driving.
10.Promise to bring some laughs and some elite-ish-ness to the fan club? sure can.
11.And finally, what is one question about the band, the man, or your future in the community do you have? where can I find the extended version of Remember to Breathe?

Dashboard Confessional is on MTV now with a live concert that goes on for about 10 more minutes. It started at 12:30. I missed most of it, so I hope they re-air it.

The Application:

1.Name/Location/Age: Sarah/Tennesee/20
2.When did you first get into Dashboard Confessional? When my friend, Jon, introduced me to them 3 years ago.
3.Tell us a story about how you found the first song you heard from Dashboard Confessional: My friend, Jon, told me about this song, "Hands Down" and I remember listening to it and thinking it's really cool and all. Anyways, while I was eating at the cafeteria at school, they were playing it on the radio and I guess I wasn't really listening the first time, but I totally fell in love with it. And, I had to know who it was. So, that song reminds me of my first year at college and my ex-boyfriend.
4.When refering to Dashboard Confessional, please come up with a sweet nickname pertaining to the band: When referring to them, I usually just say D/C or Dashboard. So uncreative.
5.Favorite & Least Favorite Songs: Favorite song? Probably "So Impossible" or "The Place You Have Come to Fear the Most" and least favorite? I don't think I have one.
6.When talking about Dashboard Confessional do you use 'he' or 'they'? When I talk about it, I usually say 'he' referring to Chris, even though I know it's a band.
7.Like tattoos? I mean, I don't have any, but I like Chris' and other people's but tattoos aren't for me.
8.Please share your best concert experience: Well, I'm seeing them live next month for the first time, so I'll let you know how that goes.
9.Please share some other bands that are amazing, but not quite as amazing: Death Cab for Cutie is an amazing band, and I really like Snow Patrol right now.
10.Promise to bring some laughs and some elite-ish-ness to the fan club? I will try my hardest.
11.And finally, what is one question about the band, the man, or your future in the community do you have? I was at Best Buy last week looking at CD's and I ran across this imported CD of Dashboard Confessional and it had a song on there called "I Do" and I had never heard it, I was wondering if anyone knew anything else about it.

The Application:

1.Name/Location/Age: Katie/California/18
2.When did you first get into Dashboard Confessional? A few years back.
3.Tell us a story about how you found the first song you heard from Dashboard Confessional: My best friend at the time bought and I remember listening to it in her room and telling her how disgustingly slow it was. Then Screaming Infidelities came on and I fell in love.
4.When refering to Dashboard Confessional, please come up with a sweet nickname pertaining to the band: Ha, I'm not creative at all. I would probably just call them Dashboard, Dash or some variation there of.
5.Favorite & Least Favorite Songs: I am madly in love with So Impossible. I love everything by Dashboard [as I'm sure most dash fans will say] but to be honest, I'm not really feeling the 'Slow Decay' song from the new album.
6.When talking about Dashboard Confessional do you use 'he' or 'they'? When I talk about Dashboard I always say "they" but when talking about the music I talk about Chris, which is where the 'he' would be applied.
7.Like tattoos? I'm indifferent towards them.
8.Please share your best concert experience: I've only seen them once, in January, and it was breathtaking. Chris has such a stage presence, and the whole band sounded amazing. I loved the extended version of Remember to Breathe, and when they played Stolen for the first time in front of a live audience.
9.Please share some other bands that are amazing, but not quite as amazing: I love The Honorary Title second best. :)
10.Promise to bring some laughs and some elite-ish-ness to the fan club? I'll try my best!
11.And finally, what is one question about the band, the man, or your future in the community do you have? I'd like to hear about the tour this summer, since I can't make it out. So I guess I just want to know how amazing the shows are...

Hello to anyone who's reading. This is a community for Dashboard Confessional Fans. The die hards, the
kids who sing along to everysong and any song, even when we don't quite know the words. We are the ones who have been to numerous shows or at least have watched our UnPlugged DVD enough times to remember that one really annoying girl... We wear our hearts on our sleeves and appreicate everything that Dashboard Confessional has done for us.

If this sounds like a community that you could appreciate, check out the userinfo and find out what to do. We'll be glad to check you out.

For now, I'm the only mod. I'm looking for a few more people to be mods and really get this community started!

I also need someone who wouldn't mind doing some layout/HTML/graphics... if you're interested, please reply to this post.

This is a really primative community, it needs to be built up and loved and what better time than to get all of the die hards in right before the next tour!? It will be awesome.

This will be a voting community. There will be an application, voting, mods, etc. Only the best need apply. But this early in the game, I bet just about anyone will do.

Please leave comments with any questions.

Thanks!
